If you're hoping to encourage children to live for Jesus in a way that goes against the selfish and prejudiced ways of so many today, then you need to help them hear about how God can be at work in them. By the power of God-the-Holy-Spirit in children (and adults) who trust in Jesus, we can be changed by him to be more loving and self-less.
What are those 'fruit' that the Holy Spirit can work in us? Paul gives us a great list in Galatians 5:22-23,
"...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control." (NIV)
And there's a song about exactly that called "O Holy Spirit..."
Here's a video of an unplugged version:
There's also a lyrics version here:
And on the songwriter's webpage you can download video files, mp3 files, sheet music pdfs
Here are the lyrics:
O Holy Spirit!
Work in me,
Won't you make me more like Jesus?
O Holy Spirit!
Form in me
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness!
Goodness, faithfulness, oh yes -
Gentleness and self-control...
Fruit of the Spirit, O Holy Spirit!
Won't you make me more like - Jesus?
